Course Description
Spanish 1 introduces students to foundational vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and conversational skills. Students will practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing while gaining an appreciation for culture and clear communication as part of loving our neighbor well.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Use basic greetings, introductions, and courteous expressions.
- Conjugate regular verbs in the present tense and use common irregular verbs.
- Use nouns, articles, adjectives (agreement), and basic sentence structure.
- Ask/answer simple questions (who/what/when/where/why/how).
- Read and write short paragraphs using learned vocabulary and grammar.
- Understand basic Spanish speech at an introductory level.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness of Spanish-speaking countries.
