This course surveys the major subdisciplines of psychology as a science and as a helping profession, including the biology of behavior, learning, motivation, abnormal psychology  and social psychology.   These disciplines will be considered as the author presents the content as well as through the lens of scripture.

 

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

1. Know basic nomenclature in psychology

2. Explain significant concepts and principles in the field of psychology

3. Describe general overview of the various subdisciplines in the field of psychology and possible career options 

4. Explain experimental process to the science of psychology

5. Evaluate psychological theories, concepts, and principles in the light of biblical and theological teachings

6. Articulate an informed Christian view of psychological theory

7. Consider ethical issues from both professional and spiritual standpoints

8. Apply appropriate research methodology to think critically about, understand, and explain behavior and mental processes
