Course Description: This Speech and Debate class follows the National Christian Forensics and Communication Association (NCFCA) curriculum.
Course Objectives: • Prepare and deliver Limited Preparation, Interpretation, and Platform speeches.• Prepare for and participate in Team Policy debate.
Grade Level: No younger than 12 years old on January 1, 2026, but no older than 18 years old on September 1st , 2026.
Class Time: Thursday 1:30PM-3:25PM
Course Duration: Full Year

NCFCA Membership: $160 per family and full agreement with the NCFCA Statement of Faith is required.
- Tournament costs: Participation in one practice and at least one official tournament is required.
- Participation costs vary. There are both in-person and online tournaments available. See the NCFCA website for more information.
Required Material(s): Laptop (must bring to EVERY class). Notebook, pen, file folders.

Grading Policies: Grades are determined by attendance (30%) and participation (70%).
Grading Scale: 90-100 A, 80-89 B, 70-79 C, 60-69 D, 0-59 F
Note: Tournaments begin in December and run through May. Participation by the student and volunteering by one parent in at least one practice and at least one official tournament is required. Tournament costs are the responsibility of the parents and include fees, travel, accommodations, meals, copies, a rolling file box (if participating in debate), and proper attire. See the NCFCA website for more information. This is a TWO SEMESTER, Double-Block class. The financial and time investment may seem significant, but it is WELL WORTH it (we know, because we have had five of our children participate in the NCFCA and they all LOVED IT. They will also have made new friends!
