Course Description: Beast Academy Level 5 is the most advanced level in the Beast Academy curriculum, designed for students who are ready for pre-algebra concepts and deep problem-solving challenges. It is designed for students who are working at a 5th-6th grade math level. However, because Beast Academy is more advanced than standard curricula, many students use level 5 in 7th grade depending on their math background. It consists of 4 books covering the topics: Integers, expressions, equations, ratios, rates, decimals, percents, square roots, exponents, probability, statistic and coordinate planes. This math course will build a strong foundation for pre-algebra, emphasizing logical reasoning, problem-solving and mathematical creativity. It is perfect for students who enjoy challenging math and deep thinking.
Course Objectives: Students will gain the skills of logical reasoning, critical thinking, pattern recognition, multi-step word problems, and algebraic thinking.
Grade Level: 6th-8th
Class Time: Tuesday & Thursday 9:00AM-9:55AM
Course Duration: Full Year
Curriculum Fee: $140 (includes all 4 student books, online lessons and practice portal at a bulk discount)

Required Material(s):
Notebook or Scratch Paper – For working out problems, taking notes, and practicing extra problems.
Pencils & Erasers – Math is about trial and error, so having a way to erase and adjust work is important.
Ruler & Protractor – Useful for geometry-related problems.
Graph Paper – Helps with coordinate plane problems and neat calculations.
Course Prerequisite(s): Students should be comfortable with:
Multi-Digit Arithmetic – Confidently add, subtract, multiply, and divide large numbers.
Fractions – Compare, simplify, add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions.
Decimals – Understand place value, perform operations, and convert between fractions and decimals.
Factors & Multiples – Prime factorization, least common multiple (LCM), greatest common divisor (GCD).
Basic Geometry – Identify angles, find perimeter and area, understand symmetry.
Word Problems & Logical Thinking – Solve multi-step problems and think critically.
Classroom Expectations:
Participation & Engagement
Be active learners – Ask questions, share ideas, and contribute to discussions.
Try before asking for help – Attempt problems independently before seeking assistance.
Stay focused – Listen attentively and minimize distractions.
Champion Mindset & Problem-Solving
Embrace challenges – Struggle is part of learning; don’t give up too quickly.
Learn from mistakes – Mistakes are opportunities to improve and grow.
Show reasoning – Explain thinking verbally or in writing, not just give answers.
Work Habits & Responsibility
Complete assignments on time – Stay on track with homework and classwork.
Show all work neatly – Organize steps clearly to develop good problem-solving habits.
Use resources wisely – Reference notes, textbooks, and peers appropriately.
Teamwork & Respect
Work well with others – Respect classmates’ ideas and contribute to group work.
Be kind and supportive – Encourage peers rather than put them down.
Listen when others speak – Practice active listening and wait your turn.
Reaching Excellence Together
Follow instructions the first time – Saves time and keeps the lesson moving.
Ask for help appropriately – Raise hands or follow classroom protocols.
Be honest – No copying or cheating—math is about learning, not just getting answers.
Grading Policies & Scale: The bulk of the grade will be based on the student mastering each concept, with recognition of the student’s effort and attitude.
Attendance and Participation 10%
Homework Assignments 20%
Mastery of Concepts 70% • Mastery (4/4 or A) – Student solves problems correctly and explains reasoning. • Developing (3/4 or B) – Student mostly understands but makes small errors. • Needs Improvement (2/4 or C) – Student struggles with concepts and problem-solving. • Not Yet (1/4 or D/F) – Student needs significant help with the topic.
Goal: Students work toward mastery rather than worrying about letter grades.
Additional Information: Beast Academy is an advanced curriculum designed for students who enjoy problem-solving and critical thinking.
Level 5 aligns with 5th-6th grade math but goes deeper than most traditional programs.
If your child has only used a standard math curriculum, they might need time to adjust to the challenge.
The Guide Books teach concepts through engaging comic stories, making math fun.
The Practice Books provide problems, puzzles, and challenges to reinforce learning.
If your child prefers direct instruction, they might need extra support at first.
