Course Description: This course will introduce students to public speaking to include topics from choosing your speech topic to knowing your audience, mastering your nerves, speech delivery techniques, conducting a business meeting, debating, and more.
Course Objectives: At the end of class, students will be able to successfully write and deliver a speech in a confident manner and will understand how to conduct a business meeting. Students will also be able to speak more confidently in public in a variety of other forums in addition to prepared speeches.
Grade Level: 6th-8th
Class Time: Tuesday 1:15PM-2:30PM

Required Materials(s): Notebook or 3 ring binder w/lined paper (recommend pockets for materials handed out in class), Pen or pencil
Classroom Expectations:
The student is expected to complete all assigned homework problems.
The student is expected to participate in class discussions and activities.
The student is expected to bring all notes, the required textbook, pencil, and paper to every class.
The student is expected to display Christian character in class. Disrespectful behavior towards the teacher or classmates will not be tolerated.
Students are expected to bring completed assignments to class each week. Late assignments will not be accepted unless parents contact the instructor to make other arrangements. Please make these arrangements at least one day in advance.
Grading Policies: 35% Class Participation; 40% Homework 25% Tests & Quizzes
Grading Scale: 90-100 =A, 80-89=B, 70-79=C, 60-69=D, 50-59=F
