Course Description: Using BJU Press World History curriculum as our foundation, this course will discuss civilizations from around the world all the way from creation to the 21st century. I personally believe that history is best presented as one big story so that is the approach I will be taking as I attempt to immerse the students in what they are learning and discover where they fit into the story themselves.

Course Objectives: By the end of the year, each student should have a good amount of general knowledge of the various major periods in our world's history.

Required Book(s): BJU Press World History Student Text (5th Edition)

Required Materials(s): A 1 inch binder with pockets and binder paper OR a notebook  A folder for homework  Pens and/or Pencils depending upon which you feel most comfortable taking notes with

Classroom Expectations:

  • Participation in class discussion is a large part of the learning process in this class and is therefore worth 10% of the student’s grade. 

  • Any late assignments will have 10% deducted from their final grade for each week they are late. 

  • Students will be expected to complete their work on their own, without significant outside assistance. The only exception to this is for approved group projects. Students are also required to properly cite their source(s) for any material, video, or media, used in their papers, projects, homework, etc.

Grading Policies: Participation: 10% Assignments/Projects: 40% Quizzes: 25% Exams: 25%

Grading Scale: (90-100= A; 80-89=B; 70-79=C; 60-69=D; 59 or below=F)
