Course Description: We will be training and competing in various track events at different high schools around Tampa. We will mainly be focusing on the running events such as the 400 m 800 m 1200 m 3200 m runs..
Course Objectives: A high school track and field course aims to develop students’ overall fitness, athletic skills, and understanding of competitive running and field events. Its objective is to teach proper techniques for sprinting, distance running, jumping, and throwing while emphasizing safety, discipline, and personal improvement. Students learn how to set goals, train effectively, and build endurance, strength, and coordination. The course also promotes teamwork and sportsmanship through group workouts and team competitions, encouraging athletes to support one another and demonstrate respect both on and off the track. Ultimately, the objective is to help students grow physically and mentally while discovering the value of commitment and healthy lifelong habits.
Grade Level(s): 9th-12th
Course Duration: Semester
Class Time: Thursday, 9:00AM-9:55AM
Classroom Expectations: My expectation would be that you show up to practices and give everything that you have to become the best athlete you can be.
Required Materials: Track Shoes
PreRequisite: Able to run a mile in 10 minutes or less
Grading: There will be no grades just complete commitment required.
