Geometry - Course Syllabus 2026–2027

Instructor: Randy Hernandez

Email: randy@class-source.com

Grade Level: 9th–12th

Prerequisite: Algebra I

Class Time: T/TH @ 9:00 am - 9:55 am

Course Duration: Full Year

Course Description

This course covers plane and solid geometry, including points, lines, angles, triangles, polygons, circles, and three-dimensional figures. Students will develop skills in deductive reasoning, formal proofs, and real-world applications of geometry. Together, we will also explore how the study of order and design in mathematics reflects the wisdom of God in creation.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify and use foundational elements of geometry: points, lines, planes, and angles.
  • Apply logical reasoning and construct formal proofs.
  • Analyze properties of triangles, polygons, quadrilaterals, and circles.
  • Use coordinate geometry to solve problems involving distance, slope, and equations of lines.
  • Compute perimeter, area, surface area, and volume of polygons and solids.
  • Apply right-triangle trigonometry (sine, cosine, tangent) and the Pythagorean Theorem.

Required Curriculum & Materials

  • Student Text: BJU Geometry (ISBN 9781606828946)
  • Geometry textbook & test packet
