COURSE TITLE: Archery
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This archery class helps young archers master the 11 Steps to Archery Success using Genesis compound bows and NASP guidelines. Through expert coaching, students develop proper form, accuracy, and consistency in a supportive environment. Parents are encouraged to be involved, gaining insights to help their child practice and improve. Whether your child is new to archery or refining their skills, this course builds confidence and a strong foundation for success.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course, students will: • Learn and apply the 11 Steps to Archery Success for consistent and accurate shooting. • Develop proper stance, posture, and form using a Genesis compound bow following NASP guidelines. • Improve focus, coordination, and confidence through structured practice. • Understand range safety rules and proper equipment handling. • Gain the skills needed to practice effectively and progress in their archery journey. • Prepare for local and state archery tournaments, learning competition rules, scoring, and strategies for success. • Provide parents with insights to support their child’s development in archery and tournament readiness.

COURSE GRADE LEVEL: 4th - 12th
COURSE DURATION: Full Year
SUPPLY FEE: $70
CLASSROOM (Outdoor Range) EXPECTATIONS
1. Safety First – Always follow range safety rules and listen to the coach’s instructions. No handling equipment until given permission.
2. Respect & Focus – Show respect to coaches, fellow archers, and equipment. Stay focused and ready to learn.
3. Proper Form & Technique – Follow the 11 Steps to Archery Success and strive for consistent improvement.
4. Effort & Attitude – Give your best effort in every session, maintain a positive attitude, and be open to feedback.
5. Practice & Preparation – Regularly practice skills outside of class to reinforce learning and improve accuracy.
6. Competition Readiness – If participating in tournaments, be prepared, follow competition rules, and demonstrate sportsmanship.
7. Parental Involvement – Parents are encouraged to support their child’s progress by learning key techniques and practice strategies.
GRADING POLICIES
Instead of traditional grades, students will be assessed on skill development, safety awareness, and participation.
1. Skill Progression (40%) – Mastery of the 11 Steps to Archery Success, consistency, and improvement in accuracy.
2. Safety & Range Etiquette (30%) – Following safety rules, proper equipment handling, and respect for others.
3. Effort & Participation (20%) – Engagement in lessons, willingness to learn, and positive attitude.
4. Tournament Readiness (10%) – Understanding competition rules, scoring, and demonstrating sportsmanship. Students will receive feedback and progress updates to help them refine their technique and prepare for competition.
GRADING SCALE
Since this course focuses on skill development rather than traditional letter grades, students will be assessed using the following scale:
• Excellent (E) – 90-100% Demonstrates strong mastery of the 11 Steps to Archery Success, follows all safety rules, consistently improves accuracy, and actively participates.
• Proficient (P) – 80-89% Understands and applies the 11 steps with minor inconsistencies, follows safety rules, and engages in practice with a positive attitude.
• Developing (D) – 70-79% Shows progress in form and technique but needs more practice and focus on consistency and safety awareness.
• Needs Improvement (N) – Below 70% Struggles with form, accuracy, or safety rules and requires additional coaching and practice to meet expectations.
Students will receive regular feedback and progress reports to track improvement and prepare for competitions.
