Course Description: This High School technical elective course exposes students to practical, real world, employable skills in the Mechanical and Manufacturing industries.
Students will work with seasoned instructors to learn, practice with, and test for certifications in the following areas:
Snap-on Hand Tools Identification and Safety Certifications (5 certifications)
Tool ID 1
ScrewdriversTool ID 2
Wrenches Tool ID 3
Cutters and Pliers Tool ID
4 - Ratchets, Sockets, and Extensions Tool ID
5 - Hammers, Punches, and Chisels
Snap-on Electricity Introductions, Measurement and Circuits Certification

Students will work with instructors during class time to learn concepts and have hands-on time with the mechanics each week. Online homework will be assigned for the rest of the week via Amitrol’s robust e-learning platform (https://amatrol.com) which combines graphics, cartoons, simulations, learning modules, and more.
 
Students will have the opportunity to test for “micro-credentials” at the end of each learning section and earn Industry Certifications that will serve to put them ahead of other candidates applying for entry level jobs in the industry.
 
Students will join the Pre-Apprenticeship Program students for hands on learning days at the AmSkills Training Center (AmSkills.org) several times during the year. Upon completion of this course students will have priority enrollment in the 11th/12th Pre-Apprenticeship Program when they are 16 years old.
